What are the different climate patterns during the year?
| January – April | Dry, warm days and cooler nights. |

Where are the nearest grocery stores?
Mahahual has a few small food stores in the tourist part of town as well as the area by the cruise port know as the Casitas. If you want to prepare your own food you should stop at one of the big box stores along the highway when you drive from Cancun. There are also two local suppliers who drive up the coast past our villa twice a week offering a limited range of groceries.
How safe is the area?
The whole Caribbean coast of the Mexican Costa Mayais very safe. There are other parts of Mexico that are indeed dangerous, but not the Caribbean coast where our villa is. Since it is secluded we have a full-time caretaker couple who lives in a small house at the back of our property and whose presence helps you feel safe.
What medical facilities are there close by?
There is a medical clinic in Mahahual with English speaking doctors. There are also small pharmacies in Mahahual.
Can one obtain fresh fish & lobsters at the villa?
Our caretaker can obtain fish and shellfish for you, weather permitting, at a very reasonable cost. There are also two fishing co-operatives in Mahahual where you can buy fish and lobsters.
What cruise ships come to Mahahual (Costa Maya)?
In the high season (November – April), several ships dock each week at the Costa Maya cruise ship port, located a few kilometers up the coast from Mahahual village, fewer in the low season. Many of the passengers stay in the duty-free port zone and enjoy the facilities there, while others go on excursions. Mahahual never feels crowded when ships call in. By 5 PM all passengers are back on board, and Mahahual reverts to being a sleepy Caribbean village.
What is the sea like in front of the villa?
The sea in front of our villa is shallow and calm, protected by the barrier reef that runs down the coast 500 yards offshore, and the Banco Chinchorro world heritage site is a boat ride away if you want to experience some excellent SCUBA diving.
Is there a lot of sargasso seaweed?
